Lies to Forever by Marlene M. Bell Blog Tour and Book Review

I was evicted twenty minutes ago.

That is the first sentence of this book and hooked me immediately. It’s true what they say about the first sentence, don’t you think?

This eviction notice takes us down the path that April Manning went tripping down.

April continued to trip down this path and involved Hunter (her once-upon-a-time boyfriend) as well as Kelsey, her best friend. She had given up her job at the architectural firm where she worked, and where Hunter and Kelsey still worked, in order to take care of her landlord, Glenn. Bit of a spoiler, but she went to get her old job back as her situation had changed which entailed going to her boss Damian’s residence. She found quite a surprise when she got there which made her stumble down another path.

The first sentence of chapter two was also a good one.

I thoroughly enjoyed April’s tale of entanglement. I read this in one sitting, not really wanting to put it down, I was that invested in finding out the whodunnit, which turned out to be quite a surprise and not who I was expecting at all and the motivations behind the whodunnit … again, not what I was expecting.

Oh yeah! April had a troubled childhood so when reminders kept popping up along with the other events, she was pretty freaked out and began to wonder who she could really trust.

All the little tidbits thrown out like bread crumbs kept me turning the pages.

  1. Yay! What a fantastic review! I felt exactly the same way about this book! I really liked April even though she was a hot mess! Like you said - I thoroughly enjoyed her tale of entanglement! :-)

  2. Hey Melissa! Hope you’re doing well.

I’ve just finished a psychological horror short story called The Black Cup (about 7,600 words), where a man awakens at the same impossible banquet after every killing, and three cups await him.

I’m putting together a small ARC team before launch.

If you enjoy morally complex characters, psychological tension, symbolic storytelling, and stories that leave you thinking long after the final page, I think this might be up your alley.

I thought of you because you seem to enjoy psychological stories. If you’re interested, I’d love to send you a free advance ePUB copy in exchange for an honest review before release. No pressure at all if it’s not your thing!
