Kill to Keep by Elena Taylor Blog Tour and Book Review

Book three in the Sheriff Bet Rivers Mysteries.

The one thing I like about Bet is that she never gives up … no matter the consequences. She always hears her dad in the back of her mind.

I also like the fact that in book three she is still coming to realize what Rob means to her … and how to go about intermingling that relationship with her job.

Then there is Alma. If you’ve read this series, then you know Alma is the focal point at the sheriff’s station … keeping everything organized, everyone on their toes. She is the pulse of the community, knowing things before Bet even knows things. Everyone needs an Alma.

In this tale, Bet finds herself looking into a body that was found behind a tent … did this have something to do with Rob ‘allowing’ the carnival to come to town? Sure, the carnival was good for the economy, but at what cost?

The further she looked for answers the farther down a dark path Bet went.

And Rob was right by her side, along with her other employees. I like Rob’s character; he never pushes Bet for more than she can give of herself and he understands her job is extremely important to her, and Bet understands the predicament Rob is in between ‘owning’ the town, his job, and his feelings for Bet.

I enjoy this series because of the relationships that have developed and the consistency of the characters and also, again, the never-give-up attitude of Bet. This series is set in a small town with big town problems, which is something I enjoy in a series.

Guilty by Association by TG Wolff Blog Tour and Book Review

Book two in The Rizk Brothers Mysteries.

I did not know this was a series. The good thing about this series is that each book can be read as a standalone and doesn’t feel anything is missing.

I enjoyed reading about Seth and his twin brother, Jakob. They have a close relationship, even though they live miles apart. I also enjoyed reading about Seth and Jakob’s wife, Courtney. Got a bit of a chuckle at the names they used to refer to the twins Courtney is carrying.

The basis of this tale is Seth being informed of the demise of someone he looked up to, so, having job issues of his own, he decided to take on the case which meant he had to go back to his home state to take a look. This led him to another crime, if you will, and looking around at a senior care facility to see what was going on there. This led to some interesting relationships for Seth, ones he wasn’t expecting, and led him down some trails to get to the final answer.

Much to Jakob’s frustration.

Courtney was the voice of reason throughout this tale.

This is the kind of book I like to read that contains a police procedural, some politics (not too heavy), and a seemingly innocent situation that turns out to be more. Oh, and a bit of embezzlement along the way. I also liked the fact that this tale is told in both Jakob and Seth’s POVs. I also liked the Rizk family dynamics and the group of friends that surrounded Seth’s newly minted Aunt Morrighan.

Dead Girls Tell No Tales by Carissa Ann Lynch New Release and Book Review

Release date: August 1, 2026

This is one of my go-to authors no questions asked, and she absolutely nailed this one. At least, I think so.

Adrianna McMahon was down on her luck as her writing career was pretty much going nowhere at the moment. She finds herself working in a nut and fudge shoppe and develops an unexpected friendship with Rebel (Jane James is her real name), but Rebel just fits this girl for all the right reasons. Rebel has stumbled across something and decides to ask Adrianna for help under the guise of wanting to be a writer herself.

Rebel doesn’t show up for work or school and no one, other than Adrianna, seems to care.

The more Adrianna tries to find Rebel, tries to get help to find Rebel, the more she discovers as her past collides right into Rebel’s present. Not to mention some of Adrianna’s actions leading detectives to think …

I could’ve easily read this book in one setting, I thought it was that good. It has everything I like in a psychological twister. The past colliding with the present, but the thread holding everything together? I didn’t expect that and I probably should have.

I liked the way the author planted some red herrings throughout these pages, making me think I figured out the whodunnit and then I went down another path changing my mind. The final reveal … again, I didn’t expect it and I should have. I also liked the fact that there was family strife involved for both Adrianna and Rebel, it just made them more realistic and explained parts of their personalities.

For me, I found this one to be a page turner.
